I know this subject gets beat to death all the time but just like to offer my top ten list and ask for feedback since every time i look at these discussions i found a new jem of show.

in no order just ten greatest
1.i no i said no order but haave to put 05-08-77 at top of list. all i need to say is scarlet fire

2. while on the day moving to next day widely underated 05-09-77 gets overshadowed but overall amazing show

3.avalon 4-17-69- this 3 nite run was just amazing with this being the basiss for all dark star>st stepehn>lovelight

4. 08-06-71- this set list just amazing with best bertha ever and maybe best hard to handle closes with great lovelight -pigpen at his best

5. 08-27-72great show with maybe the best playin in band ever as well as amazing dark star

6.03-29-90 gets overlooked bec it is a 90's show but maybe best eyes ever and great estimated and dark star. finishes with throwing stones>lovelight>knockin on heavens door

7.6-22-74-amazing china>rider and the eyes is one of the best

8.2-18-71- opens with bertha truckin and includes best version jonny b goode and great dark star and playin

9.07-28-73 amazing playin, great china>rider, sick eyes and mountain jam encore

10.02-26-77- all i need to say is first terrapin and estimated ever

Excellent list, especially the 5-9-77 call.

My only beef is w/the 2/26/77 (see post I wrote here about that show).

Otherwise, a fine offering of Top 10.

i agree that might be little overated on the argument of 1st but still includes solid playin into the wheel and good franklins tower

I agree with much of your list, but my list would have to include:
1] 7-18-76 - Beauty Beyond Description
2] 9-18-74 - The perfect show in an almost perfect year
3] 7-19-89 - The highlight of the later day Dead
4] 5-14-74 - Another 74 masterpiece
5] 4-21-69 - My favorite primal Dead
6] 4-23-77 - Just maybe better than 5-8
